PROJECT
Sam Peterkin Photography
PROJECT OVERVIEW
I approached Sam as I knew he was shopping around for a portfolio website for his photography business.
This project is a very good one for my freelance business, as some new features have been requested, which gives me more exposure to new technologies.
One of the client's key requirements was the ability to manage the website himself, including updating images and content, and uploading new work to his portfolio. Previously, the freelance websites that I have built have been maintained by me after deployment, but this requirement has led me to explore content management systems and build the website in a way which gives the client control over his website without needing any technical knowledge.

DESIGN & DEVELOPMENT
So far, I have only done the homepage design for this project. I offered the client a free homepage design to see if he would be interested in my work, and once we had spoken a few times and confirmed the requirements and scope of the project, I took deposit to start planning and working on the rest of the site.
The site is being designed in Figma, and I am in the process of planning what pages are needed and how they will look. After the design work is finished, I plan to use Craft CMS to build templates to display the client's data. From here, I can integrate some of the client's other requests such as booking and contact form, and the ability to view photos that have been taken on a specific shoot.
This project will help me broaden my experience with content management systems, plugins and third-party integrations, while developing a more complex website than my previous freelance projects.

OUTCOME
This project is not yet complete, but I am aiming to gain a lot of experience using Craft CMS, and become a more technically advanced web developer because of it.
