2026 PORTFOLIO

PROJECT

QB Building Solutions

PROJECT OVERVIEW

This project includes a whole website redesign and SEO improvements.

The owner approached me after he had heard about my work, and asked if I could do some work on his site to improve the SEO and get the site listed higher on Google. I offered him two options; either I just do the SEO, or I can redesign the whole site and make improvements across the board. The decision was made to undertake a whole redesign, with improvements.

The site used to all be on one page, with no interactivity. Since taking over, I have come up with a whole new design, added contact form functionality, and added multiple pages.

The project is currently in progress while I await additional information from the business owner.

DESIGN & DEVELOPMENT

I designed this website using Figma. I spent some time going through the existing website and picked out anything that I liked, and thought would be a good fit for the new site. I made notes of the color scheme and general layout.

From here, I started working on a homepage design. I took some images and text I found on the existing site and plugged them into the design. I sent this design off to the client who was very impressed with my work, which meant that I could start designing the other pages on the site. In the end, I created designs for the homepage, contact page, an example "services" page, and a page to display a single service. The client was happy with all of these, and happy for me to base any other pages off these designs too.

The site is hosted using GitHub pages. There is a repository which holds all of the content, and the pages are built using Astro, which allows me to reuse layouts and components. I used pure HTML, CSS and JavaScript for this website. I built a contact form into the site using Web3 Forms, and adapted the default form submission behaviour to be more in keeping with the site design, as opposed to taking the user to a generic "form submitted" page.

OUTCOME

This project is currently in progress, with the majority of the design and development work complete. The original one-page site has been rebuilt into a modern, functional, multi page site and the client has stated that they are very happy with the new look and feel of the site.

Development is currently awaiting additional content from the client before the remaining pages can be completed. Once this content has been added to the site, I will be carrying out final testing and planned SEO improvements, before changing the domain's DNS records and launching the new site through GitHub pages.
